The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Frustration Over Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Required Changes
A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
